Forest Resource Collaborative

Supporting forest and community health on the Georgetown Divide!

Welcome!

If you would like to volunteer or find out more about the Forest Resource Collaborative, please use the contact form below.  We will do our best to reach out as soon as we can.  (We will not share your information outside the organization.)

About the Forest
Resource Collaborative

The forest resource collaborative is a California nonprofit organization that was created in 2022 for the purpose of developing and supporting forest health projects on the Georgetown Divide.

Since the divide region is made up of small rural communities and a diverse mixture of parcel sizes and uses, there are opportunities for neighboring landowners, both public and private, to collaborate to enhance the forest health environment, social engagement, and economic opportunities and values in the community.

The Forest Resource Collaborative envisions  forests that are managed with consideration for resource use, tree and wildlife health, ease of maintenance, fire adaptation and safety, and access.  Sharing of resources and information, developing volunteer opportunities and enhancing the ability of local residents to use and enjoy the environment around them is our goal.

The long-term vision of the FRC is to support the development and coordination of local markets for forest products, grant-funded project implementation, mapping, and coordinated forest management across multiple ownerships through a collaborative model.

Projects

FRC is currently developing grant applications that are intended to support large-scale forest vegetation treatments over multiple ownerships to create healthy long-term forest conditions.

Smaller-scale forest management demonstration projects are also being developed to bring together the FRC volunteer community and to support the owners of small parcels who need assistance to manage their vegetation and create access on their property.

Demonstration projects will provide an example to the community of how to create conditions that will allow for the vegetation to mature in a way that allows for healthy forest and habitat development and reduced fire risk over the long term.

How to Support the Forest Resource Collaborative

The Forest Resource Collaborative was created to support and maintain healthy forests and communities on the Georgetown Divide.  Any contribution, small or large, will help us support the community and build capacity.  If you are interested in contributing in any of the following ways, please use the contact form to reach out and we would be glad to talk with you.

Make a small contribution.  Your donation will be used to increase our capacity by supporting things like the website, GIS subscriptions for the mapping software that we use, fuel for making visits to project locations and the purchase of forest surveying tools and equipment.

Make a large contribution.  If you are interested in partnering with FRC to fund a large-scale project, please get in touch.  We would be glad to discuss project ideas and find ways to collaborate with you to meet our shared goals.

Contribute experience, ideas, or join our board of directors.  FRC is looking for individuals who want to take an active role in supporting the health of the forest, watershed and communities in this region.

Volunteer!

Volunteering is a great way to support the local community and meet your neighbors in the process!

FRC needs volunteers for future demonstration project work days, organization development, website management and organization leadership.

If you would like to volunteer or find out more information about how to get involved, please use the contact form above to reach out and we will get in touch.
